Bio
Stephanie Brooks began her healthcare career as a bedside nurse working on a pulmonary unit. She transitioned to the facility Infection Control Nurse, thus beginning many years of advancing opportunities in the field of Infection Prevention. After beginning her nursing career with a diploma in nursing, Stephanie obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing followed by a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in healthcare administration. She received international recognition as an APIC Hero of Infection Prevention in 2010. She added risk management to her responsibilities in 2014 and became the Chief Quality Officer for North Knoxville Medical Center in 2019. She currently holds certifications in Infection Control (CIC), Risk Management (CPHRM) and Quality (CPHQ).

Stephanie currently serves as a board member for the Tennessee Association of Healthcare Quality (TAHQ), is a member of the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) Quality Committee, and serves as a board member for the Halls/Powell Boys and Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley. Additionally, she is a longstanding member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and currently serves as the President-elect of the Smoky Mountain APIC Chapter. Stephanie has been involved with the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) since 2019 to include application writing, examiner training, serving as an examiner, and was the recipient of the 2022 Katie Rawls Champion of Excellence Award. Aside from work, Stephanie's family includes her husband and two grown sons. They enjoy all University of Tennessee sports.
